Background
Malaysia is an important industrial and agricultural country in Southeast Asia, with continuously growing energy demand. Although natural gas and coal remain the main power sources, the Malaysian government actively promotes renewable energy development, especially in biomass, self-generated electricity, and carbon reduction. Malaysia is rich in biomass resources, especially palm residues and wood processing by-products, providing excellent feedstock for distributed biomass power generation.
MIE Industrial faced the following challenges and requirements:
- High electricity load and strict stability requirements for the pellet plant
- Increasing electricity costs from the grid
- Desire to reduce carbon emissions and achieve sustainable development goals
In response, we collaborated with the client to launch a 3MW biomass gasification power project, using woodchip resources to provide stable self-generated electricity for the plant, reducing dependence on the public grid.
Project introduction
Pioneering solution
Based on the growing industrial electricity demand and increasing energy costs in Malaysia, we provided MIE Industrial with an innovative and efficient biomass integrated energy solution, ensuring a continuous and stable power supply for their pellet plant.
We delivered 2 TFBG1500 gasifiers, 2 syngas purification units, and 6 × 500 kW gas engine generator sets. This configuration supports over 8,000 operating hours per year, providing round-the-clock power for the entire plant and ensuring the efficient operation of the pellet production line.Beyond addressing power supply challenges, this project also implements a circular economy model: the ash generated from biomass power generation can be applied to improve agricultural soil, while the waste heat recovery system collects heat from the generator sets to supply steam and hot water for other processes within the plant, enhancing overall energy efficiency.
Furthermore, to maximize environmental and economic benefits, we are actively pursuing carbon credit registration, allowing the project to reduce carbon emissions while generating economic value. This project not only replaces reliance on the public grid but also serves as a replicable, clean, sustainable, and self-sufficient industrial energy model in Malaysia.
Key Customer Benefits
1.Energy Independence
By building their own biomass power plant, the client significantly reduces reliance on the grid, ensuring stable production.
Using local woodchip resources for power generation, electricity costs are significantly lower than purchasing from the grid.
The project converts agricultural waste or wood processing by-products into clean energy, effectively reducing carbon emissions in line with Malaysia's green energy policies.
Our 3MW gasification power plant uses advanced technology with high efficiency, low emissions, and easy operation.
The project promotes local renewable energy development, provides employment opportunities, and enhances the company's corporate social responsibility profile.
